Run Trainer frequently asked questions (FAQ)

When you start running you might have a lot of questions. We’ve set up a special page with all ‘Frequent asked questions’ about running, running with Run Trainer and other topics.

FAQ:

It all started pretty small with us working on just a simple app that had some schedules to start running. We just had so many people that started using it and kept requesting new features and giving us fantastic feedback (this is often forgotten, but sharing your experience with the Run Trainer app are a great motivation to keep on improving it!).

Our little passion project grew out of its designated proportions and soon we were creating a complete platform. We just love working on it now and decided to keep this thing going for a long, long time!

We track your route with the GPS and by placing increments to measure the route we can calculate the time and distance into speed/pace.

MATH! Keep in mind that it will not be accurate to the last calorie burned, but if you are honest with your height and weight it will be damn close!

After the run and from your stats view on the bottom you will find the sharing options. Press the Facebook button and it will prepare your post.

few things to check out first. Is the GPS on? Is the app granted access to your GPS data? If not, this can be changed in your phone’s settings screen. Also, there are still areas and materials that disrupt signal for the GPS. If you run in one of these areas the tracking will be off or even not working. In most populated areas this should not be a problem, but further away from civilization heading into nature this can surely be the case.

We have encrypted the data and through several systems, there is a way for our services to access it. Even we do not know your passwords! This makes the system safe to store your data on it. You can’t share what you don’t know…

After completing your running session you’ll be able to view your route on a map with different colors. Each color represents your relative speed during your run. Eventually this gives a visualization of the parts on the routes you kept a constant pace or ran faster (green) / slower (red) than the average of your run. If you follow our training plans, the training sessions have ‘run’, ‘walk’, and ‘jog’ parts which you should be able to pinpoint on the map. You can also probably recognize uphill parts of your route.

There can be a lot of reasons you want to run your other schedules then we provide. We believe our standard ones are very good, but it’s up to you in the end. Also, you might be on your way back from an injury or something like this and for that reason want to use your own version.

No matter the reason, iOS users can enter their own schedules in the app itself. With a little practice, this can be done in less than 30 seconds! Just enter the step, then the times and we will add the right audio fragments to your schedule.

We have 4 main training plans available, these are the:

Couch to 5K, 5 – 10K, 10 – 15K and 15K – Half marathon (21K).

The intention is to run 3 times a week, so each plan will take 10 weeks to complete. As long as you have a valid subscription, you can use all plans at any time. So if you need to pause your running, repeat a training, or if you can’t find the time to run 3 times a week, you can follow the plan at your own speed.

We will save your distance, time, calories burned and speed. Your coordinates are saved so we can fill in the line for you again on the phone and on RunTrainer.com. If you just did a scheduled training or a MyPlan run we also save the name of the training so you know which training it was.

This could not be easier! Start Apple Music and press the tunes you want to hear. Then start Run Trainer and the app will recognize that you have music running in the background and will lower the volume so you can hear the audio instructions when needed. While running you can open Apple Music again and change the music, no problem. Just turn the phone back to Run Trainer as the main running app again and it will go on like nothing happened…

Just before you normally go to the GPS screen, tap the treadmill icon on the top right corner. This will let the app know to not look for the GPS and give you the option to enter your data manually after you are done with the session.

Another account?! Yes, although you might just want to connect Facebook to make signing up a 2-step authentication process. But there is a very good reason for you to sign up. By storing your data on our cloud servers your progress will be saved and no matter if your phone falls in the toilet, you buy a better one. Just log-in and your personal stats are ready to go!

Also, it allows you to log in on RunTrainer.com and see detailed stats on your runs.

By tapping the features that will lead you to paid content it will ask you if you are ready to pay for this content. It will also let you know how much it will cost. If you agree, press “buy” and start using more and more features in the app.

Creating and then updating/maintaining an app is a very expensive process. We believe in our product so we invest our money in this and ask users to pay about the same amount you pay for a cup of coffee to unlock them. This allows us to continue working on the platform.

By letting you try all the features a week free of charge you can make sure that this is what you would like to pay for. This makes it a fair deal in our eyes!

Updates will always be free. However, to use all available features of Run Trainer, a subscription is required after the free trial period. We are introducing new features on a regular base to ensure the best experience. We are always open for feedback or feature suggestions. Please contact us.

On this website, you will find several buttons linking to the store address to download the app directly. If you do this on your phone it will ask you if you want to be directed to the store, tap on yes to go there directly. Otherwise, open the App Store and search for “Run Trainer”. Here you can download the free app.

Please email us at [email protected]. We might ask you to verify you are the account owner and if all checks out delete your account information from our system.

You really want to stop? That’s to bad, but of course you can stop your current subscription. If you wouldn’t mind, it would really help us to learn why you want to stop so we can improve the experience in the future! You can email us at [email protected].

You will need to access you App Store active subs and stop the one for Run Trainer, as soon as the previously bought membership will come to an end it will stop the renewal. See this link from Apple to do so: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT202039
